Ans. 1. Telex: Telex is the key to instant communication. It is a secure, switched messaging service. that confirms to international transmission standards:
(a) Telex network is constantly being developed internationally using Intelligent NetworkTechno logy
(b) Telex transmissions confirm and authenticate delivery from sender to receiver and vice-versa.
(c) Telex is the safest and most reliable way for use as primary communication.
(d) Telex message arrives perfectly at the distant end. Exchange of answer backs after transmitting a telex message ensures that connection is still established with the distant end before the sender terminates the call.

2. Fax: Fax message can be prepared beforehand that can be typed, handwritten or contain graphics.
(a) Facsimile machines can easily be moved from one telephone line to another.
(b) Once the document has gone past the scanner and the wait time for more sheets has finished, the facsimile machine automatically close down.
(c) It is a very quick and reliable way of sending information.
3. Video Conferencing: Participants need not be sitting at the same place but they can com with each other simultaneously from different parts of the world and can see each others expressions. It is like face-to-face communication,
(a) Communication appears as the participants are sitting in the same room and discussing with each other.
(b) Records can easily be maintained for future references.
4. E-mail or Electronic Mail: It is very useful for the following ways:
(a) It is quick and eliminates postal delays.
(b) Cheap even in long distance communication.
(c) Does not distrust the receiver and can be retrieved at receivers convenience.
(d) Can be stored for future reference.
(e) Does not depend on the availability of receiver.
(f) Can be sent to a large number of people at the same time. (g) Confidential and secure.

Ans. Internet: Internet is an international network of international communication which connects the computers all over the globe across international territories with the help of telephone lines. Many different networks operated by different organisations are connected together to form the internet. It creates such a big route for exchange of messages that all information can be sent or received quickly.
Internet actually started off in the late 1960 when computers began to play an important role at major universities and research institutes of U.S. Defence Department Agency. Until 1990s, a few people used it but in 1993 with the introduction of a new technology called World Wide Web, things changed a lot.
To use internet, it is necessary to become member of internet service provider. In India, it is controlled by BSNL. Apart from this, it requires hardware and software. A PC multimedia Pentium microprocessor having 16 megabite capacity, along with WINDOWS terminal software, Internet Explorer is required for internet. In addition to hardware and software, a telephone line and a specific modem is also necessary. Faster the speed of the modem, better will be the utility of internet.

This is the world of internet. The modern society cannot even be dreamt without the internet. werent uses of internet may be enumerated as under:
1. E-mail: The facility of internet is very popular among the users. A person can transmit his ssage to any part of the world in a moment. This is a paperless facility which saves time and money, 1. The sender and the receiver both should have the ID address on some websites like Gmail, Yahoo,
Hotmail, etc.
2. E-Banking: This service has revolutionised the banking sector. This is the service which has cerlinked all the banks in the world. As a result, the use of services like Telesaving, Mobile Banking,
P.C. Banking and E-Banking is increasing. It provides facility to operate the account even when we are sitting in our drawing room or working in our office.
3. Internet: It is a private internet in which a website is designed for the use of the employees of the organisation. It is generally used to place documents such as telephone directory, staff manuals and office record. The main advantage of internet is that the information stored is readily available and it can be easily updated from time to time.
4. World Wide Web (WWW): It is a revolutionary development on the internet. It is a source of large amount of information on various subjects for different kind of users. It can be used for number of purposes such as to advertise, to invite job applications, to invite matrimonials, etc. It may be used to provide detailed information regarding a product or a service or an organisation, etc. The information can also be published on the web.
5. Chat Room: Through this process, the speaker and the listener can speak to each other and also see each other with the help of a web camera. It provides facility of face-to-face international communication between the person living in different parts of the world.
6. E-commerce: This facility of internet has converted the whole world into a big market. It provides facility of buying and selling goods through internet. Prominent manufacturer and dealers advertise their products and service and provide necessary details on their website. Customer can buy anything at any time in any corner of the world by paying through the credit card, debit card, etc. For this, the buyer fills a form on the website to select the item to be purchased and provide delivery and payment details. Then, information is electronically transferred from computer to computer in an automated way.
7. Telnet: Through telnet we can login on any computer connected with internet and work on it as if it is under our control. This is also known as Remote Login. It helps in downloading any new and useful information from one computer to another computer.
